And he was appointed as the Governor of West Bengal on 20 July 2019.

He was also a former member of Legislative Assembly from Kishangarh, Rajasthan in 10th Legislative Assembly Rajasthan and former president of Rajasthan High Court Bar Association, Jaipur during 1993-98.

He has fulfilled the responsibility of Parliamentary Affairs Minister in Chandrasekhar’s government. Whether it is Lok Sabha or Vidhan Sabha, he has been included in the important committees of the House where he was a member of the Assembly. Along with this, he has also played an important role in providing reservation to the Jat fraternity in Rajasthan. On 20 July 2019, he was appointed as a Governor of West Bengal.
