Saumya Pandey, who became an IAS officer at the age of 23, was born in a middle-class Brahmin family in the year 1993 in Prayagraj city of Uttar Pradesh. She is known as the youngest IAS officer in the whole of India, she became an IAS officer in the year 2016 by securing 4th rank in the UPSC exam.

Sharing the UPSC strategy, Saumya told that when a candidate gives UPSC exam, first of all in UPSC Prelims he should take only those questions that you know well. And he also started preparing for English Comprehension a few days before the exam. At the same time, for GS Paper-I, she prepared with only NCERT from class 6 to class 12.

Saumya prepared for the UPSC Mains exam through magazines like NCERT, Yojna, and Kurukshetra, The Hindu newspaper, and some standard books. And she prepared for History by reading books of Bipin Chandra, And Laxmikant for Indian Polity, and Nitin Singhania for Indian Art and Culture. Apart from this, Saumya used to practice writing essays on contemporary topics every 15-20 days.
