History of Maha Bodhi Temple

One of the most sacred places of Buddhism, the Maha Bophi Mandir is one of the oldest temples in India. Recognizing Buddha’s place of knowledge (Bodhi) It is situated on the banks of the Niranjana river of central Bihar state and the Mahabodhi temple complex is one of India’s most prominent religious and spiritual centers and is a major tourist attraction for foreign visitors.
The original structure, which was later changed, was made to celebrate Buddha’s knowledge by one of the most important religious conversions of Buddhism, the Emperor Ashoka of Maurya. Temple height is 55 meters and 180 feet, its pyramid crest contains many lining, strenuous presentations, and fine alignment. Four peaks, each are similar to their central counterpart, but in the shape of small and umbrella, with the dome at the top, decorate the two-storey structure corners. A temple inside the temple is a yellow sandstone statue of Buddha built in glass. And the Stone Guardian surrounds the temple and the Bo tree. One of the most famous of Ashoka’s pillars (one of which he wrote his posts) stands in the southeast corner of the temple.
